January 15, 2018 – Highlights of Har Zion Temple’s successful MLK Day activities
JERUSALEM – Delivering beautiful blankets homemade by our own Har Zion Temple Shul Stitchers to the Lone Solder Center – In Memory of Michael Levin
Tikkun Olam, Repairing the World – Each person who participates in our activities will come away with a great sense of satisfaction. The Tikkun Olam Committee engages in a full range of diverse programs scheduled throughout the year. You are welcome to join in on one or more of these meaningful and fulfilling activities.
- Operation Isaiah High Holiday Food Drive – On Kol Nidre night, bring non-perishable kosher food for the Mitzvah Food Pantry in the bags distributed following Rosh Hashanah services. USY co-sponsors this annual food drive.
- Inglis House Rosh Hashanah Meal and Passover Seder – for the Jewish residents of this home for people with mobility impairments.
- Sukkah Decorating at Brith Shalom and Saunders House – Join the Tikkun Olam Committee as we bring the beauty of this holiday to the residents of these homes.
- Thanksgiving Baskets – Assemble and deliver baskets of food to people in need throughout the community.
- Martin Luther King Day of Service – Join Tikkun Olam and USY as they team together to do mitzvah projects for the entire community. Give blood, sort donated clothing, prepare meals for delivery to the homebound, mend prayer books and more.
- Blood Drives – Donate blood and help those in need. See calendar for dates.
- Shul Stitchers – Bring your needles and yarn to create squares that will be connected to form cozy blankets for those who need some warmth in their lives.
- Cook for a Friend – On Sunday mornings, join others who cook and schmooze as they package meals that are delivered to the community.
