Shabbat

Shabbat is considered a festive day, when a person is freed from the regular labors of everyday life, can contemplate the spiritual aspects of life, and can spend time with family. On Shabbat, you are welcome to join us at Har Zion to share in the rich life of our Jewish community.

Friday Evening at 6:00 PM

Welcome Shabbat every Friday evening with your Har Zion community. Our Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat evening services are participatory, user-friendly and filled with singing. Sometimes we offer a Shabbat dinner following services and we encourage you to look for announcements in the Har Zion Bulletin, E-highlights or on our website for details.

Saturday Morning at 9:00 AM

We offer a traditional egalitarian Shabbat morning service that celebrates the full range of lifecycle events. Our community embraces all of those who want to share in the joy of baby namings, wedding anniversaries, birthdays and B'nai and B'not Mitvah. We are also there to support those members who are observing the yahrzeits of loved ones. If you would like to have an aliyah, please contact Rabbi Alpert.

Shabbat Minha Ma'ariv

Every Shabbat we start Minha at the same time as candle lighting the night before (Friday). Minha Ma'ariv includes Torah reading, a brief study session, the evening service and the beautiful Havdallah ceremony that brings Shabbat to a conclusion.
