Middle School

The Middle School Program is designed to connect with our students through multiple learning styles. Hebrew reading is of primary importance in the Middle School. We set targets and establish reading groups suited for all abilities. We also use prayers relevant to the students lives' to teach reading.
The core curriculum for the sixth and seventh grade is comprised of text study. Students participate in a Chevrutah program where pairs of students study Biblical texts ranging from the Five Megillot (the Five Scrolls) to Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers). At the end of the year, students participate in a Siyyum, a celebration of the completion of finishing a book of the Bible.
Social Action is also a large part of the Middle School program. Students will participate throughout the year in social action projects including visits to the JRA and Cook for A Friend. We hold a short service every time we meet; Shacharit on Sunday mornings, Ma'ariv on Wednesday evenings.

Chugim
On Sunday mornings students can choose from a variety of chugim/clubs, ranging from Jewish cooking, choir, and student council to current events, conversational Hebrew, and Israel. These activities provide students with the ability to take ownership of their Jewish learning. There are also a number of special programs throughout the year, including two family B'nei Mitzvah programs, a Chanukah auction, a Purim celebration, guest speakers and special events making Yom Hazikaron, Yom Hashoah, and Yom Ha'Atzmaut.
