Religious School, Elementary Department

Har Zion Religious School is the first afternoon synagogue school accredited by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. It strives for excellence in Jewish Education while nurturing within its students a love and respect for their heritage and to impart to them a basic foundation in Jewish learning. Har Zion Religious School works to produce good, moral and ethical young Jews who will continue their quest for Jewish knowledge and will incorporate the teachings and mitzvot into their daily lives.

Aleph through Heh
Six hours/week for 8 to 13 year olds
Sunday - 9am to 10:45am, Monday - 4 to 6pm, and Wednesday 4 to 6pm, OR
Sunday - 11:15am to 1pm, Tuesday - 4 to 6pm, and Thursday - 4 to 6pm

Enriched Post Gan (Post Kindergarten) track
Offered to those who complete our all-day bi-cultural Kindergarten or its equivalent
Sunday - 11:15am to 1pm, Tuesday - 4 to 6pm and Thursday 4 to 6pm

Special enrichment programs offered by our Rabbis and Cantor

Tashlich - Experiential Jewish living activities
School hakafot, a school Seder, Kabbalat Shabbat Services, Tu B'Shvat fruit store, unique Hanukkah entertainment, mini-megillah reading and gala, Purim carnival and more.

Adult and family education and PTA sponsored programs featuring parents and children learning together

Parent Teacher Association of Har Zion Religious School
A group of active parents work as "partners with the school" to fund and support many programs and events that add an atmosphere of excitement to the school. Some of PTA's annual activities include: a gala school Friday Evening Oneg Shabbat, all birthday and new student Shabbat luncheons, supper in the Sukkah, Hanukkah latke dinner, school seder, holiday treats and refreshments for all class and school programs, graduation reception, and Israeli cafe.

  • All parents with children enrolled in Har Zion Religious School, who have paid their annual dues, are eligible to join PTA.
